Wild Wednesdays Minibeast Hunt

Calling all young bug hunters and nature lovers! Every Wednesday during the summer holidays—starting Wednesday 29 July 2026Itchen Valley Country Park (SO30 3HQ) hosts Wild Wednesdays. Led by knowledgeable park staff, this hands-on 1-hour outdoor adventure invites accompanied children aged 4 and over to explore High Hill Field using sweep nets and identification guides to discover the amazing minibeasts living in the park’s meadows.

  • Expert Guidance: Led by experienced park rangers and education staff who help kids identify species and explain the crucial role minibeasts play in local ecosystems.
  • Outdoor Preparation: Please wear long trousers and sturdy shoes suitable for walking in long grass. Sun hats, sunscreen, and insect repellent are recommended on warm summer mornings.
