How to Get to Southampton Common
Southampton Common is a large, accessible park located in the center of the city.
- By Bus: The Common is well-served by numerous city bus routes, including the Bluestar and Unilink services. Look for buses heading toward “The Avenue” or “University,” which stop right alongside the park boundaries.
- By Train: The venue is approximately a 20-to-25 minute walk from Southampton Central Station, or a short taxi ride away.
- By Car: The Common is situated along The Avenue (A33), a primary arterial road into the city.
Where to Park
While the Common is a public space, parking options are limited during major events:
- The Avenue / Bellemoor Road: There are some designated layby parking areas and small public car parks around the perimeter of the Common (such as the area near the Cowherds pub). Note that these fill up very quickly on busy summer days.
- Residential Streets: Limited parking is available on surrounding residential streets. Please be mindful of local residents and ensure you are not blocking driveways or obstructing access.
- City Center Parking: Given the popularity of the festival, it is often easier to park in a city center multi-storey car park and take a short bus ride or a brisk 20-minute walk up to the Common.
